Not sure if this has been asked before, but I've been here for 8 years and The unemployment rate is 4.7%, which is about average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- The nightlife scene is tough
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Hope this helps!.

I work in retail here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is tough. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
