Cost of living reality check -Menomonee Falls

Hi all, The median home value here is around $341,600, which seems about average. It's a a smaller city city with about 38,963 people. The unemployment rate is 1.4%, which is pretty low. With a population of 38,963, Menomonee Falls is a smaller city. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. What would you do? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

The food scene here is surprisingly good. Tons of great farm-to-table places. it's been a really good experience overall.

I've lived in Highland for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions
- The nightlife scene is improving

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2023 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone about the same since then.
