Best neighborhoods in Mequon

Hi all, I'm retired and Crime rate is something to consider -Mequon sits at 57.0 per 100K. Average temperature is around 46--F, so expect cold winters. Household incomes average around $147,391 in Mequon. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Let me know your thoughts. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor recreation is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

Came here for family and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The healthcare is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Downtown. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in legal. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 27, moved here 10 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in North and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited high-paying job options
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The public transit situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for remote workers. solid vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
