Is it worth buying in Mequon?

Been meaning to ask this. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Old Town for 2 years. Moved from LA for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is improving - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Dating scene is rough. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 7/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've been in Sunset for 2 years. Moved from Atlanta for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is decent - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Summers can be brutally hot. And weather can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 8/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Lakewood area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

Came here for school and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The pet-friendliness is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'm a project manager and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 14 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Used to live on the Uptown side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Definitely worth checking out..
