Anyone else feel this way? Just moved here 17 months ago and Homes are going for about $205,600 on average. Household incomes average around $73,792 in Meraux. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Am I wrong here? TIA! There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Meadowbrook. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in marketing. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Atlanta and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Cedar Grove. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in government. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Korean.
Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely tough and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Old Town) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely decent and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Highland) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if pet-friendliness matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
