Biggest downsides of living in Mercedes?

Alright, We have two kids and Rent is about $676/month for a decent place. With a population of 16,449, Mercedes is a small town. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What are your go-to spots? The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Uptown. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in education. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Good luck with whatever you decide..
