What to expect moving to Mercedes?

First post here. I've been here for 16 years and Household incomes average around $41,753 in Mercedes. Average temperature is around 75--F, so it's warm year-round. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Am I wrong here? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 6 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I'm a accountant and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the The Heights side. Completely different vibe. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

I work in tech here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is excellent. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
