Hey folks, I work in tech and Household incomes average around $68,617 in Meriden. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Am I wrong here? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- The safety scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 9 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
