Anyone else feel this way? I've been here for 2 years and Rent is about $1,714/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $98,686 in Meridian. Average temperature is around 54°F, so expect cold winters. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Used to live on the Downtown side, now on the Westside side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a marketing manager, 24, moved here 4 years ago from Houston. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Four distinct seasons
2. Affordable housing options
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Summers can be brutally hot
3. The community vibe situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for singles. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Houston, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Fairview. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in education. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
