Hello, Just moved here 17 months ago and Crime rate is something to consider — Meridian sits at 159.2 per 100K. Median household income is $98,686, which feels pretty solid for the area. Rent is about $1,714/month for a decent place. With a population of 125K, Meridian is a mid-size city. It's a a mid-size city city with about 125K people. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Any advice would be great. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

Used to live on the Sunset side, now on the East side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 12 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in West for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options
- The cost of living scene is improving
The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..
