Meridian vs Dallas -which is better?

Curious what people think. Household incomes average around $34,657 in Meridian. Am I overthinking this?

Used to live on the East side, now on the North side. Completely different vibe. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Seattle about 2 years ago. The main reasons were weather and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is solid.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

I'm a marketing manager and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in North for 7 years. Moved from Tampa for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
retail is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Homeless population growing downtown. And dating scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 7/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've lived in Riverside for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good internet infrastructure
- The pet-friendliness scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong sense of community
- The safety scene is decent

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
