Best neighborhoods to rent in Meridian?

Alright, I'm a 47-year-old firefighter and Household incomes average around $70,250 in Meridian. It's a a small town city with about 3,809 people. Rent is about $1,281/month for a decent place. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. Is this normal for Meridian? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.
