Been meaning to ask this. I'm originally from St. Louis and It's a a small town city with about 9,224 people. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is improving in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a marketing manager, 47, moved here 5 years ago from Austin. I've lived in East and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The cost of living situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for retirees. excellent vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $90K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Pine Hills. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in tech. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The traffic is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Used to live on the Riverside side, now on the East side. Completely different vibe. the quality of life is solid.
