How are the schools in Merrillville?

Hey everyone, It's a a smaller city city with about 36,343 people. The median home value here is around $194,000, which is actually reasonable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 6 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The safety is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

I'm a physical therapist and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is solid and there's always something going on.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Nashville it's decent.
