Internet providers in Merritt Island?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Household incomes average around $91,020 in Merritt Island. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Should I be concerned? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the Highland side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in West for 1 years. Moved from Portland for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Limited shopping options. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 5/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in Old Town area are underrated. Kids love it here.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Portland about 7 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Four distinct seasons
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are manageable, gas is tough.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Good luck with whatever you decide..

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much growing but now it's pretty good.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The nightlife is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 15 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 30, moved here 13 years ago from Charlotte. I've lived in North and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Close to major attractions
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The cultural scene situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for retirees. solid vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Charlotte, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
