Relocating to Merritt Island, FL -pros and cons?

First post here. I grew up here but left for a while. Crime rate is something to consider -Merritt Island sits at 846.0 per 100K. Average temperature is around 73--F, so it's warm year-round. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Worth the trade-offs? The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Downtown. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in marketing. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Used to live on the Old Town side, now on the Downtown side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.
