Curious what people think. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I've lived in Old Town for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good internet infrastructure
- The food scene scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 13 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into running, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

- Not very walkable outside downtown
