Is Mesa good for remote workers?
OK so Is this normal for Mesa? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 11 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a writer, 49, moved here 5 years ago from New York. I've lived in North and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The job market situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for singles. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$150K here.
