I've lived in South for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Diverse dining options
- The cost of living scene is improving
The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Definitely worth checking out..

My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is nightlife. Other than that, No regrets on my end..
