Is Methuen Town getting better or worse?

Alright, I work in retail and It's a a smaller city city with about 53,043 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Methuen Town sits at 187.3 per 100K. Household incomes average around $103,270 in Methuen Town. With a population of 53,043, Methuen Town is a smaller city. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What neighborhoods would you suggest? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I've lived in Old Town for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- The dating scene scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much growing but now it's underrated.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Sunset for 11 years. Moved from Atlanta for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is solid - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Dating scene is rough. Limited entertainment options. And traffic can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 9/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been in Midtown for 10 years. Moved from Nashville for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:
