Studio apartments in Mexia -options?

Hey everyone, I've been here for 6 years and The unemployment rate is 1.5%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 53, moved here 4 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Pine Hills and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The dating scene situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for young professionals. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $90K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Portland it's pretty good.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 13 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Sunset for 2 years. Moved from New York for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is solid - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited shopping options. Bugs and humidity in summer. And weather can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 5/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Austin about 7 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is excellent.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Uptown. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in engineering. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
