Alright, My partner and I are With a population of 11,487, Mexico is a small town. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Am I wrong here? The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in South. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in Pine Hills area are average. Kids love it here.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much reasonable but now it's solid.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a social worker, 51, moved here 13 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in Greenfield and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Close to major attractions
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The safety situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for singles. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $50K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.
