Is Mexico still affordable?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm retired and It's a a small town city with about 11,487 people. You can expect to pay around $706 for rent here. Median household income is $48,873, which feels on the lower side for the area. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Worth the trade-offs? Thanks! Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely decent and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Highland) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Sunset for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- The cost of living scene is solid

The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for singles. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in North. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in finance. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Italian.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
