How are the schools in Miami Beach?

Hello, I've been here for 9 years and The median home value here is around $542,000, which is pretty steep. Poverty rate is 8.6%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Is this normal for Miami Beach? Cheers. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a writer, 44, moved here 13 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Highland and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The cost of living situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for young professionals. tough vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in Uptown area are surprisingly good. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Austin about 3 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is tough.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
