Is Miami still affordable?

Hi all, I'm originally from New York and The unemployment rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $475,200 on average. Average temperature is around 77°F, so it's warm year-round. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Pros:
- Low taxes
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Limited nightlife
- High property taxes
- Limited cultural events
Has anyone dealt with this? Thanks in advance! The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great seafood places. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if nightlife matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely challenging and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
