First time home buyer in Miami Gardens

I'm a teacher here and Crime rate is something to consider -Miami Gardens sits at 739.1 per 100K. The median home value here is around $337,200, which seems about average. It's a a mid-size city city with about 111K people. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Diverse community
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Rising rent prices
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Not enough green space
Does this match your experience? The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
- The weather scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Uptown. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in real estate. If you're in legal you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Feel free to reach out with questions..
