Moving to Miami Gardens for work -advice?

I've been here for 15 years and Median household income is $60,979, which feels about average for the area. The unemployment rate is 5.1%, which is about average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

I'm a marketing manager and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

The food scene here is decent. Tons of great craft beer places. I love the pace of life here.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely pretty good and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Sunset) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Francisco, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is underrated in most areas.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The cultural scene is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 9 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

I work in tech here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is decent. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
