OK so I'm a remote worker and The median home value here is around $577,300, which is pretty steep. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Austin it's improving.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely excellent and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Riverside) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I work in government here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is tough. Definitely worth checking out..

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great Thai places. I love the pace of life here.

Hot take but it was the best decision I ever made. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.
