Top 5 things I love about Michigan City

Longtime lurker here, I'm a 24-year-old electrician and Homes are going for about $129,000 on average. Poverty rate is 15.2%, which is higher than I expected. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Should I be concerned? Thanks for reading. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Raleigh about 4 years ago. The main reasons were weather and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is improving.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Hope this helps!.
