Worst things about Middle River nobody talks about

So, I work in consulting and With a population of 31,616, Middle River is a smaller city. You can expect to pay around $1,639 for rent here. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What are your go-to spots? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a chef, 32, moved here 14 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Old Town and Maple Ridge, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Great outdoor activities nearby
3. Low crime in most neighborhoods
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The walkability situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for couples. tough vibes, walkable.
- Maple Ridge: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
