Hi all, Born and raised here. The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. TIA! I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Used to live on the West side, now on the Maple Ridge side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely pretty good and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

My experience has been mostly positive. the quality of life is solid. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Hope this helps!.

If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely underrated and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (East) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.
