What I wish I knew before living in Middleburg Heights
I grew up here but left for a while. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What do you all think?

I've lived in Midtown for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- The walkability scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Nightlife is limited
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Hope this helps!.

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community vibe is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

Background: I'm a social worker, 58, moved here 5 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in Riverside and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Growing food and restaurant scene
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The community vibe situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for young professionals. improving vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $70K-$80K here.

- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- The weather scene is decent
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
