Best areas to explore in Middlebury?

I'm a 36-year-old pharmacist and Rent is about $1,287/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $1,287 for rent here. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. Worth the trade-offs?

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The food scene is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 36, moved here 8 years ago from Portland. I've lived in Downtown and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The nightlife situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for young professionals. tough vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $70K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**

Moved here from Boston about 11 years ago. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Still getting used to outdoor recreation but No regrets on my end..
