Unpopular opinion about Middleport

Hey everyone, I'm a 39-year-old contractor and Rent is about $655/month for a decent place. With a population of 2,114, Middleport is a small town. The unemployment rate is 1.8%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Close to nature
- Lots of new development

Cons:
- Not very walkable
- Limited dining options
- Limited cultural events
The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 3 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's exactly what I was looking for. Internet is improving in most areas.

Bought a house here in 2022 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
