Middlesex housing prices -when will it stop?

OK so Median household income is $107,063, which feels pretty solid for the area. With a population of 14,518, Middlesex is a small town. It's a a small town city with about 14,518 people. Homes are going for about $414,600 on average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Low taxes
- Easy commute
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Hot summers
- Poor road conditions
- Homelessness issues downtown
- Not enough green space
Am I overthinking this? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 30, moved here 13 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in Lakewood and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Strong sense of community
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The pet-friendliness situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Lakewood: Great for remote workers. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $40K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Sunset area are solid. Kids love it here.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is surprisingly good in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Old Town. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in tech. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Definitely worth checking out..

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.
