Rent in Middletown getting crazy

Hey everyone, Just moved here 13 months ago and Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Crime rate is something to consider -Middletown sits at 82.7 per 100K. Poverty rate is 7.8%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Pros:
- Good schools
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Cold winters
- Sprawl everywhere
- Chain restaurants dominate
Am I wrong here? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 1 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Uptown for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good internet infrastructure
- The community vibe scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for remote workers. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
