Remote worker thinking about Middletown

So, The median home value here is around $271,000, which seems about average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Am I wrong here? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.

I've been here 6 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Hot take but there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

Bought a house here in 2017 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely pretty good and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Riverside) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
