The good and bad of living in Middletown

Been meaning to ask this. My family moved here when I was a kid. Crime rate is something to consider -Middletown sits at 312.9 per 100K. With a population of 30,227, Middletown is a smaller city. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Does this match your experience?

I've lived in Midtown for about 1 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons
- The dating scene scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. No regrets on my end..

Used to live on the Midtown side, now on the Uptown side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Fairview for 6 years. Moved from San Francisco for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Far from beaches/mountains. And housing market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 6/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
