What I wish I knew before living in Middletown
Been living here since 2008. Poverty rate is 10.6%, which is around average. Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. Rent is about $1,614/month for a decent place. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.
Pros:
- Good job market
- Close to nature
- Diverse community
- Low taxes
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Rising rent prices
- Far from major airports
Thoughts? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.
