Alright, Been living here since 2013. Poverty rate is 7.7%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Midland sits at 134.0 per 100K. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Has anyone dealt with this? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Raleigh about 8 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is underrated.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Springfield for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The school system scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in East. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in education. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Italian.
