Best things about Midland that nobody talks about
As a 15-year resident, here are some things about Midland that don't make it into the guides:
1. The local music scene is really vibrant
2. The library system is phenomenal
3. The local craft beer scene is legit
It's not for everyone but it's perfect for us.

Public transit needs work but they're investing in it. Should improve in next few years.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is check out the local Facebook groups for neighborhood info. Makes a big difference.

Coming from Seattle, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are about the same.

Good summary. I'd rate it higher personally — maybe 6/10.

Respectfully disagree about the cost of living assessment. In my experience, it really depends on your lifestyle.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

The food scene here is seriously underrated. So many great restaurants.

Totally agree with this. I've been here 9 years and my experience is very similar.
