Housing in Midland compared to Houston

Been meaning to ask this. I've been here for 1 years and Median household income is $91,169, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $298,600, which seems about average. Household incomes average around $91,169 in Midland. Crime rate is something to consider — Midland sits at 319.6 per 100K. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Thoughts? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I'm a physical therapist and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The traffic is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

I've lived in Old Town for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- The cost of living scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Hope this helps!.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is excellent in most areas.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Maple Ridge for 15 years. Moved from New York for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
education is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Homeless population growing downtown. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 7/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much growing but now it's underrated.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The traffic is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
