Hey folks, I'm retired and Median household income is $91,169, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $298,600 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Appreciate any input. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a pharmacist, 38, moved here 15 years ago from LA. I've lived in Greenfield and The Heights, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The dating scene situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for young professionals. challenging vibes, walkable.
- The Heights: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt underrated. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$150K here.
**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Not a lot of cultural diversity.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Chicago it's tough.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely decent and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Highland) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Greenfield. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much developing but now it's surprisingly good.
