Thinking about relocating to Midlothian from Minneapolis
Been living here since 2012. Median household income is $105,927, which feels pretty solid for the area. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Does this match your experience? The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

I've lived in Oak Park for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Diverse dining options
- The outdoor recreation scene is average
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value school system, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely underrated and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Downtown) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
- The nightlife scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Good luck with whatever you decide..
