Anyone regret moving to Midvale?

Hello, Household incomes average around $73,058 in Midvale. The median home value here is around $408,400, which is pretty steep. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely challenging and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Highland) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from New York, be prepared for the culture shock. pet-friendliness is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much growing but now it's hit or miss.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Springfield. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in real estate. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Thai.

No regrets on my end..

Came here for retirement and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor recreation is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Houston about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is tough.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Riverside. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in construction. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 2 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to LA it's excellent.
