What to expect moving to Midvale?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $408,400, which is pretty steep. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Let me know your thoughts. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cost of living used to be much established but now it's pretty good.

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The cost of living is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Meadowbrook area are excellent. Kids love it here.

Bought a house here in 2022 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is improving in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 40, moved here 4 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Downtown and East, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The outdoor recreation situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for families. excellent vibes, walkable.
- East: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Minneapolis about 9 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Happy to answer more specific questions..
