Best coffee shops in Midway?

Hello, The unemployment rate is 6.9%, which is concerning. Average temperature is around 55--F, so the weather is moderate. Poverty rate is 4.5%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. Would love some local perspective. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 28, moved here 10 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Westside and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Can feel isolated
3. The housing market situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for singles. improving vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Seattle about 2 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 14 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The healthcare is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are solid, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.

I've been here 5 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
