Day-to-day life in Midwest City, OK
Hi all, Military spouse here. The median home value here is around $158,400, which is actually reasonable. It's a a smaller city city with about 58,170 people. The unemployment rate is 4.5%, which is about average. Homes are going for about $158,400 on average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.
Pros:
- Low crime in most areas
- Good healthcare facilities
- Walkable downtown
- Good airport connections
Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Rising rent prices
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Not enough green space
Is this normal for Midwest City? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.
