Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely underrated and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Westside) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The public transit is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in West. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in legal. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Feel free to reach out with questions..

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely excellent and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Limited entertainment options.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is improving in most areas.
