With a population of 50,749, Milford is a smaller city. You can expect to pay around $1,820 for rent here. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Does this match your experience? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is nightlife. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Public transit is hit or miss here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

I've lived in Riverside for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- The housing market scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Came here for retirement and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The dating scene is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a pharmacist, 49, moved here 9 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Riverside and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Winters are long and cold
3. The school system situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for couples. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$70K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Seattle it's excellent.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 1 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Seattle about 3 years ago. The main reasons were school and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Summers can be brutally hot
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is solid.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are hit or miss, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is decent.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Greenfield. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in construction. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.
No regrets on my end..
